Glen Fitzmartin is the Chief of Division A of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. Division A includes eleven felony courts with thirty-three prosecutors and twelve investigators. The cases that are handled by these individuals range from drug possessions, felony thefts, robberies, sexual assaults, burglaries, murders up to capital murder.
Glen grew up in Dallas. He received his B.A. from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama and his J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University, School of Law. He joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office in August of 1997 as a misdemeanor prosecutor. After four and a half years and rising to the level of a felony prosecutor Glen, in 2002, left the District Attorney’s Office to start his own law practice focusing on criminal law. In 2006, Glen was appointed Judge of County Criminal Court #3 when the Dallas County Commissioner’s Court appointed him to fulfill the unexpired term of the then vacated judicial seat. In 2007 Glen returned to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as a felony prosecutor. While at the office, Glen has tried over a hundred cases and has represented the State of Texas in thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to felonies including robberies, sexual assaults, child abuse, family violence, drug cases, burglaries, murders and capital murder where the death penalty was sought and given. Glen has been asked on numerous occasions to speak all over Texas on different topics in the field of criminal law including, voir dire, ethics, opening statements and search and seizure.
