The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Citizen Advisory Board mission is to effectively and honestly collaborate with the members of the Dallas County District Attorney and her staff in an effort to seek justice. The Citizen Advisory Board is dedicated to taking the action necessary to further and promote the District Attorney’s efforts to protect the innocent in Dallas County without respect to race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. The Citizen Advisory Board will, like the District Attorney’s Office it advises, maintain the highest level of honesty, integrity, and transparency. We will always be accountable to our community.

The District Attorney Citizen Advisory Board is committed to diversity, hard work, and re-imagining the traditional role the State should play in a community. While working to promote and support the efforts of the District Attorney’s office to vigorously prosecute violent and habitual offenders, the Board is equally committed to crime prevention by implementing, supporting and improving innovative programs to break the cycle of crime for vulnerable populations.

GOAL: Build and strengthen relationships between the community and the District Attorney’s Office to improve trust in the criminal justice system.

To achieve this Goal, CAB will pursue the following objectives:

  1. Make efforts to encourage diversity and inclusiveness in events hosted or sponsored by the District Attorney’s Office.
  2. Make efforts to encourage transparency in policies, events, and/or communication with the public.
  3. Develop at least one community event geared towards not only public safety but inclusiveness and diversity.

GOAL: Use the input, expertise and perspective of the board to develop and improve internal policies of the organization.

To achieve this Goal, CAB will pursue the following objectives:

  1. Become educated on various crimes, especially those affected Dallas County at any given time.
  2. Review current internal policies to identify current or potential gaps in service.

GOAL: Use acquired knowledge and relationships to educate the public and be more sensitive to criminal behaviors in an effort to prevent crime from happening.

To achieve this Goal, CAB will pursue the following objectives:

  1. Develop one crime prevention campaign/year that targets a specific crime.
  2. Work with the public to spread the mission of the District Attorney’s Office and the resources available to the community.
