The County has provided an 85% ten-year abatement on real and business property for this project.
Whirlpool’s new regional distribution center will create about 100 new jobs, have a value of about $30 million-$40 million, and utilize about $20 million -$30 million of inventory (about one-half of the inventory will be freeport-eligible).
This is one of the largest economic development projects yet undertaken in the County’s southern half and is one of the first major projects to materialize in the inland port area (an area which we believe is the key to the County’s future economic health).
Projects utilize the area’s location benefits: it is near the crossroads of several interstates highways (I-35, I-45, I-30 and I-20) and Union Pacific’s intermodal rail facility. Because of such a location, 98% of the nation’s population can be reached from the Dallas area by truck within 48 hours.
