½ - mile walk from parking lot, into the Preserve along a path through the trees. This trail connects with several others in the Preserve on the opposite side of the pond. |

Several natural surface trails weave in and out of the woods and through the meadows. |

History: |
The Lester Lorch family owned this acreage and dedicated it to the County for a park in perpetuity because they desired that it remain in its natural state. There is a 5 acre lake which provides a home for a family of beavers as well as recreational fishing for visitors. |

Special Note: |
This area of Dallas County is the natural habitat for Diamond Back Rattle Snakes, Coral Snakes, Copperheads and Water Moccasins. The latter has been seen in the pond. The former snakes are found in the woods. All animals, birds and reptiles are protected inside the Preserve. |
