Born and raised in Dallas County, Traci has worked with Commissioner Cantrell for almost thirty years. She began her career within the county government when Commissioner Cantrell was first elected to public office as a Justice of the Peace. Now working in the Commissioner’s office, she plays an integral role coordinating between the cities of District 2 and various county departments. Her deep experience and knowledge make her a vital resource regarding major transportation projects, parks and trails, and constituent services.

Kristi, a Dallas area native, began her career in 1989, when Commissioner Cantrell was serving as Justice of the Peace. Almost 25 years later, she offers the constituents of District 2 strong experience in county government and infrastructure and is vitally involved with the Commissioner’s efforts regarding information technology. Her work in Dallas County’s involvement with the Conference of Urban County’s TechShare program has made her a go-to resource for this statewide cooperative program that saves the taxpayers millions of dollars. The proud mother of two grown sons, Kristi is also working toward her degree in Criminal Justice.

As a sixth generation native Dallasite and graduate of Ole Miss, Amy loves getting involved within her community. Starting with Commissioner Cantrell’s office in 2011, she has transitioned this passion to her job by covering community service affairs in District 2. Her position affords her the opportunity to represent the Commissioner in various organizations and at many events, allowing him to further connect with his constituents. In her free time, she is active in various organizations, such as: the Dallas Safari Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Dallas County Pioneer Association, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni and Junior League of Dallas (where her efforts were recognized with one of Baylor’s 2012 Top Volunteer Awards from helping at Twice Blessed House).

Cole attended Texas A&M University-Commerce earning a degree in Journalism and Public Relations. His interests in public policy and communication afforded him the opportunity to work as an intern with the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. as an undergraduate. He now enjoys employing his love of research and writing in assisting Commissioner Cantrell with his communication efforts.

Phylis has dedicated almost 30 years to Dallas County working in the tax office, Justice of the Peace Courts, Constable’s office, and most recently with former Commissioner Dickey before joining Commissioner Cantrell’s office. Phylis has a deep, extensive knowledge of county infrastructure, programs, administration, and services which makes her a wonderful asset and vital resource to the office.


Mitch Lay

Mitch Lay began working for Dallas County in 2001. He grew up in Dallas and is a graduate of Eastfield College and a Military Veteran. Mitch is married and is a proud grandfather of two. Mitch is responsible for all of the unincorporated areas in District 2 and works diligently to resolve constituent concerns. He is also the liasion between our office and the Dallas County Public Works Department on current and future projects as well as with the cities in District 2 on potential partnerships.
