Juvenile Section Introduction

Frank Crowley Courts – 133 N. Riverfront Boulevard, 9th Floor, Dallas, Texas 75207

The Juvenile Division of the Public Defenders Office was created in February, 1988, to represent juveniles charged with delinquent conduct. The division initially was staffed with three lawyers, an investigator and a secretary/receptionist. Over the years the division has grown to two lawyers handling detention hearings, five lawyers handling delinquency cases, and, in 2003, two lawyers were added to represent parents in cases in which the State is seeking to terminate their parental rights. Other staff also includes the secretary/receptionist, two full time investigators, and a part time intern to help with filing and the preparation of the daily detention docket.
