Mental Health Court
Established in the summer of 2011, Mental Health Court diverts youth with a mental health disorder from further justice system involvement. These first time offenders work with a special probation officer and judge. This structured program involves weekly court hearings, in-home therapy with Functional Family Therapy, and psychiatric services with Dallas Metrocare. Youth address the problems that led to their initial court involvement and receive coping strategies that keep them out of the justice system.
The Mental Health Court meets each Tuesday evening at the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center. For more information please contact the program supervisor, Diane Boyd.
