The City of Richardson has one of the most comprehensive trail systems of any city in the entire Dallas-Ft. Worth metropolitan area with more than forty miles of trails and dedicated bike lanes.  It is quite literally possible to safely safely on a bicycle from the City's western border to its eastern border and from its northern border to its southern border.

The twelve-foot-wide Central Trail is presently two miles long and connects the City's trail system to two DART light rail transit stations and to the Telecom Corridor which is one of the largest employment      centers in North Texas.  It begins at Glenville, parallels the DART rail line just east of Central Expressway (hence, its name "Central") and ends at Arapaho Road.  The design of an additional two-mile segment by the City and the County that will further extend the trail to the City's southern boundary at Buckingham Road is nearing completion, and it should be possible to begin constructing this phase in 2012.
