NO Publicly Available Post-Exposure Rabies Vaccine

Due to the nationwide shortage of Human Rabies Vaccine, neither Texas Department of State Health Services nor Dallas County Health and Human Services has any Post-Exposure Rabies Vaccine.

Physicians can order the Post-Exposure Rabies Vaccine directly from the manufacturer, Sanofi Pasteur, as needed for individual exposure situations.

Texas Department of State Health Services has Human Rabies Immune Globulin (HRIG) available at several depots in the region, including Dallas County Health and Human Services. A prescription is required from the administering physician.

The patient can pick up the HRIG for the physician at the depot. It is necessary for the patient to call the depot they are using to make sure HRIG is available and bring a small ice chest with ice, their insurance information, and a picture ID to the depot.
