Step 11.
Identify Storage Space for Emergency Supplies

Making room for your emergency supplies sounds simple. However, it may require planning, negotiating with family members, and tough decision making. Think about all the unused space you have in your house, apartment, or office. You may have to bring in shelving, but not necessarily. For example: Flatten a large box to create a sturdy surface that can slide in and out from under a bed. When ready, place non-perishable canned food items and other emergency supplies on top of the cardboard (or other flat surface) and simply slide it back under the bed. Being prepared requires being resourceful and completing this critical step is key.
