Gary Fitzsimmons

Gary Fitzsimmons was sworn in as the Dallas County District Clerk on January 1, 2007. Prior to taking the leadership role as the District Clerk, Gary served the Dallas community in the capacity as a Nonprofit Administrator in the area of health care, parks, and historic preservation.
Gary brings to the District Clerk's Office more than 16 years of management and administration experience. Through this experience, he has learned the value of building teams of colleagues who support and acknowledge each other and work productively together to reach objectives to serve the public.
Gary believes that government works best when it puts the public interest first while at the same time maintaining the highest standards of accountability. Using his management and administrative skills, Gary is reviewing existing processes in the District Clerk's Office, is preparing a long-term strategic plan, and is already implementing changes that benefit the general public and legal community.
Gary has appointed new managers in key positions to expedite the process of streamlining court procedures, to hasten the electronic management of case files and records, and to increase efficiency of collecting and managing funds due to the County and to enhance the effectiveness of other areas vital to District Clerk's Office.
Gary will continue to work to identify and implement Best Practices in all areas to make Dallas County's District Clerk's Office among the most productive, efficient and respected in the State of Texas.
