Randall Johnson is the Chief Investigator for the Dallas District Attorney’s Office. As Chief, Randall is tasked with leading a team of seventy-eight commissioned law enforcement Officers.
Randall started his police career as a Reserve officer for the Irving Police Department. In 1981 became employed full time and worked Patrol for two years. Within Irving Police Department Randall transferred to Criminal Investigations and worked criminal cases for a year, then transferred to Narcotics and worked undercover for approximately two years. In 1986 he was assigned to a Drug Enforcement Task Force. In 1989 he started working Crimes Against Person cases including Homicide and Major cases where he stayed until his retirement in 2008 after 27 years.
Upon retirement in 2008 Randall was hired by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as a Senior Sgt Investigator. He worked in several Felony courts until he was promoted to Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant he supervised Senior Sgts while working on Capital Murder and high profile cases.
In 2015 Randall was promoted to Chief Investigator.
