How do I register?
Dallas County Employees are already registered through Employee Self Service (ESS).
Dallas County Ex-Employees: Under ATTENTION EX-EMPLOYEES on the registration page, click on the underlined word “here” to register with your existing details. Enter your SSN# or National Identifier and a current valid EMAIL ADDRESS and click SUBMIT.
All Other Applicants Only: If this is your first time to our job site and you have NEVER worked for Dallas County before, click the Register today button, enter a valid email address, your LAST and FIRST name in UPPER CASE, create your password and click Submit. |

What if I am unable to register/access/search for jobs in iRecruitment?
In order to register or access iRecruitment, you will need Internet Explorer 6.0 or earlier and DSL. Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher does not work. You may check your version of internet explorer by clicking on "Help" located on your task bar, select "About Internet Explorer", if your version is higher than 6.0 you must download a lower version.
You can also access, search and/or register in iRecruitment if you have Netscape or Fire Fox browsers. |

Do I need a valid email address?
Yes. You will need a valid email address to register and apply for vacancies. If you do not have an email account, you can sign-up for a free email account at various sites including Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Excite, etc. |

What if I forget my password?
You can request another password by clicking on the "Did you forget your password" link. This action will reset your password, which will be sent to your email address. |

How do I log-in if I have never worked for Dallas County?

How do I update my application?
Log into your Dallas County iRecruitment Internal or External personal account and select MY ACCOUNT (top left area). Select one of the following three tabs (top area of screen): Personal Information, Registration Assessment, Qualification and Skills and update/add/delete your personal information. Click “Save” after each section entry. |

How do I save my application?
Application will be saved when you complete all the steps (typically 5 steps) and click Finish. Make sure you go through all of the steps. You can also save your application when you click on My Account. Select MY ACCOUNT which allows you to see the SAVE button immediately, this button is located on the top right of your application. Periodically click the SAVE option as you enter your information. |

What if I get the message "A Value must be entered for Release Address to Public" box?
This is a required field, therefore, you must select Yes or No for the "Release Address to Public" box in order to navigate to another screen. |

Can I use my Back/Forward Browser button to maneuver through the Application when filling it out?
No. When you are completing your application, do not use the back button (browser) on your task bar, this function will probably cause you to lose most of your information. |

Can I upload my resume without completing an application?
No. Dallas County policy requires that you complete a Dallas County on-line application in its entirety to be considered for employment. You may upload your resume to accommodate your completed application. |

Do I have to complete a separate application for each job I'm interested in?
No. By using the new iRecruitment process you only have to register and enter your information once. After entering and saving your information you can return to your account and apply for any jobs that are currently open. However, you should periodically update your information as needed in order for us to have an up-to-date application on you. |

What is the status of my application?
Your application goes directly to the hiring manager in real time. If the hiring department decides to grant you an interview, you will be contacted via email, mail or by telephone. You may also review the status of your application by accessing your account and viewing the status box. |

Can I apply for a position that I posted for my department (Dallas County Applicants Only)?
No, if your name is in the Manager or Recruiter Name field you will not be able to apply for that position. Therefore, prior to posting, if this is a job that you intend to apply for, make sure that your name is not located in the Manager field. Also, only the Human Resources Recruiter's name should be entered in the Recruiter Name field. Contact the HR department for further instructions. |

Do I need to take a test as part of the application process?
Yes. You must complete the DC Registration Test and the Assessment Test in order to be considered for employment with Dallas County. You will take the DC Registration test only once unless you need to update your information. You will also take a job assessment test each time you apply for a different job vacancy. |

How do I take the Registration Test?
Dallas County Employees, sign on, click the My Account tab (top left), click Registration Assessment tab and answer all questions, even if the answer is N/A. You must answer all 18 questions or enter N/A where applicable.

How long will it take before I hear from the hiring department?
We have numerous hiring departments within the County and the time periods for notification vary, depending on the circumstances involved. If the hiring department is interested in your application, you will be contacted. |

I have applied for many positions, and I know I am qualified. However, I have never been called for an interview. Why?
When an applicant applies for a vacancy, it can be viewed by the hiring manager as soon as it is successfully submitted. The department will only contact those that are considered for interviews. |

Why don't you send us a response whether or not we are selected for an interview?
Dallas County receives a large volume of applications and cannot personally respond to every applicant who is not selected for an interview. However, in your notification box you will be able to see the jobs you have applied for and the current status of your application, providing the department utilizes this feature. |

Why do I have to be a resident of Dallas County for some of your Security & Emergency Management and Director level positions?
Dallas County serves the residents of Dallas as well as other cities. It is Dallas County's policy for positions that require the individual to make decisions on behalf of the residents of Dallas County to be a resident. SEM personnel are required to live in Dallas County area in order to respond to emergencies in a timely manner. |
